Applied Geology

Research areas include:

the sedimentology and genesis of heavy mineral deposits,
sedimentology applied to petroleum geology and Quaternary carbonate sedimentation.
Investigation of Australian cool to warm water carbonate continental shelf and coral reef evolution and sedimentation using the 55 metre research vessel "Franklin".

CMST is represented on the 21-nation Ocean Drilling Program, the key international body tasked with scientific exploration of the sea floor.
